Not sure what's wrong?

That's fine. Describe what you're seeing. One symptom can have several causes, so we test before we recommend anything.

Slow or freezing

A failing drive, heat, too little memory and unwanted software can all look the same from the outside.

Won't start

No power, no picture, or stuck at startup. The cause could be the charger, battery, power supply, storage or the board itself.

Dropped, cracked or wet

Damage you can see can hide damage you can't. We check the whole device, not only the part that looks broken.

Suspicious pop-ups

A warning that tells you to call a number or install something? Don't call it. Call us at (203) 433-2042 or read about virus and malware removal.

How a repair works

Step 1

Tell us, or just bring it in

Start a repair online and a technician reads your description before you arrive. Or walk in during store hours. No appointment needed.

Step 2

We diagnose it and send a price

A technician tests the device to find the actual cause, then sends you a price for the fix. Nothing gets worked on until you approve it.

Step 3

We repair it, test it, you pick it up

We make the repair you approved, test that the problem is fixed and let you know when it's ready to collect at the shop.

What diagnosis costs

Free when you go ahead with the repair. If you decide not to, there's a bench fee for the technician's time: $50 for standard devices, $100 for custom-built desktops.

How long it takes

Repairs are first come, first served, and most are finished in 24 to 48 hours. Parts, shipping and complicated diagnosis can take longer. If yours will, we'll tell you.

Repair it, or replace it?

Sometimes the honest answer is that a repair isn't worth it. If the fix costs more than the device is worth, we'll tell you before you spend anything.

There's no fixed age cutoff. We look at four things with you and make a recommendation you can act on, either way.

Age

Will it still run what you need?

An older machine may stop getting the software updates you rely on, even after a good repair.

Condition

One fault, or several?

One problem in an otherwise healthy device is often worth fixing. Several at once changes the math.

Cost

Repair price against replacement

We'll put the quote next to what a suitable replacement would cost, so you can compare the two plainly.

Intended use

What do you use it for?

Email and browsing, schoolwork or gaming each need different things. Your answer shapes what we recommend.

If replacing makes more sense, we also sell refurbished Macs and build custom gaming PCs. You're under no obligation to buy from us.

Where the work happens

At our bench in Shelton

Anything physical is repaired in the shop: screens, batteries, power and charging faults, and damage. Drop the device off during store hours.

Remote session, for some software problems

If a technician reads your request and decides it can be handled remotely, we'll book a session with you instead. Hardware can't be fixed remotely.

We don't do mail-in repairs. We also don't service TVs, security camera systems or devices with biohazard contamination.

Before you bring it in

Still have a question? Call (203) 433-2042. We answer our own phone.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk in during store hours and we'll check you in at the counter. Starting a repair online first means a technician has already read about the problem before you arrive.

Is the diagnosis free?

It's free when you have the repair done with us. If we diagnose the device and you decide not to go ahead, there's a bench fee for the technician's time: $50 for standard devices and $100 for custom-built desktops, which take longer to work through.

How long will my repair take?

Repairs are handled first come, first served, and most are finished in 24 to 48 hours. That's an estimate, not a guarantee. Parts availability, shipping and complicated diagnosis can all stretch it. If yours is going to run long, we'll tell you.

Will I lose my files?

We take every reasonable precaution, but no repair shop can guarantee your data won't be lost. Back up anything important before you bring the device in, if you can. If we know a repair puts your data at risk, we'll tell you before we start and offer to back it up first.

What should I bring?

Bring the device itself. If you're not sure whether we'll also need its charger, power cable or anything else for your repair, call the shop before you come in and we'll tell you.

Will you start work without my approval?

No. After diagnosis we send you a price, and nothing gets worked on until you say yes. If the repair would cost more than the device is worth, we'll tell you that too.

Tell us what's wrong.

Start a repair online and a technician reads it before you arrive. Or call the shop and talk it through.
