Our story · Shelton, Connecticut · Since 2017
We built the company we couldn't find.
Evolve started in Shelton in 2017 on one idea: nobody should have to choose between real technical expertise and being treated like a person. Everything we've built since — from the repair bench to managing entire company networks — comes back to that.
01 The gap we saw
In 2017, computer service came in two flavors. Neither one was right.
Michael Terenzio had spent enough time in the industry to see the split clearly. On one side were the big-box repair counters. They had scale and a name people recognized. What they often didn't have was depth, flexibility, or anyone who seemed accountable once your laptop disappeared into the back.
On the other side were the very small shops. Some of them gave customers a genuinely personal experience. But many didn't have the expertise, the resources, or the range of services to handle everything a household actually runs on now.
Michael's idea for Evolve was the thing missing in the middle: a local company with serious technical depth, a broad enough set of services to be genuinely useful, and the accountability of a business with its name on the building.
Big-box stores
Scale and a familiar name. Thin on expertise, flexibility, and follow-through.
Evolve
Real expertise and a real relationship. Built to sit exactly here, on purpose.
Small shops
Personal, sometimes. Rarely resourced for everything a family runs on.
02 Starting in Shelton
One place a family could trust with all of it.
The first version of Evolve was a bench, a set of tools, and a straightforward promise: bring us the problem and we'll tell you the truth about it, including when the honest answer is that it isn't worth fixing.
We repaired computers and devices. We sold refurbished machines we were willing to stand behind. We built custom gaming PCs. And we answered the technology questions people didn't want to ask anyone else. The point was to be one place a Connecticut family could trust with everything, instead of four vendors for four devices.
Connecticut answered. Word moved through Shelton, then well past it, and the shop kept getting busier.

03 A turn we didn't plan
Then our customers took us somewhere we hadn't planned to go.
Businesses started walking in. At first they were simply more customers alongside the families we already served. But the longer we spent inside their networks, the more familiar the problem looked — the same gap we'd started the company over, at a much larger scale, with a great deal more riding on it.
04 The small business IT problem
Most Connecticut businesses were stuck at one of two extremes.
Almost every company we met was living at one end or the other. Very few had found anything sensible in between, because there wasn't much in between to find.
Extreme one
No real IT at all
- The employee who happens to know computers
- The owner, sorting it out at nine at night
- A friend, a relative, whoever was available
- Repairs that only start after something breaks
- No security posture, no plan for next year
Extreme two
The traditional large MSP
- Pricing written for much bigger companies
- Long agreements and rigid scopes
- Support that starts with a stranger and a script
- Waits measured in days, not minutes
- Or no interest in a company your size at all
Where we sit
Large-MSP capability. Small-business service.
The tools, the monitoring, the security stack and the depth you'd expect from a large IT firm — delivered by people who pick up the phone, know your building, and answer for the outcome. That's the Evolve touch, and it's the entire reason the business side of the company exists.
05 What we did about it
We did the thing the name implies.
We didn't decide to become an MSP because managed IT looked like a good industry to be in. We built it because our own customers kept handing us the problem, and because the underserved half of the Connecticut market was hard to ignore once we'd seen it up close.
So we grew the capability. Managed IT, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365 and cloud, backup and disaster recovery, network design, business phone systems, project work, co-managed support for companies with their own IT staff, and the hardware underneath all of it.
What we deliberately didn't do was trade away how we work. You can hand us your entire IT environment and still call the shop and reach a real person who knows your network — or will by the end of the week.
You shouldn't have to choose between expertise and service.
06 What hasn't changed
Five things that have held since the first repair ticket.
01
We take the technology seriously
Decades of combined experience across consumer devices and business networks. We name our tools and we stand behind the work.
02
You'll know who you're talking to
Same people, same shop. Nobody here is an account number, and no one gets handed to a queue of strangers.
03
Straight answers
What's wrong, what it costs, and whether it's worth doing — including the times we tell you not to spend the money.
04
Local accountability
We're in Shelton. When something needs a person in the room, a person from here can be in the room.
05
The plan fits you
Your business shapes the technology, not the other way around. We'd rather build the right fit than sell the standard package.
07 Evolve today
One company. Two sides of technology.
We're both on purpose. Knowing technology from a single laptop on a kitchen table all the way through a company's entire environment is what makes us good at either end — and the two sides are the same story, not separate ones.

09 Where we're going
The technology moves. The principle doesn't.
Technology will keep changing, and some of it will change faster than anyone expects. Security demands on small businesses are heavier every year. Where work happens keeps shifting. The devices in people's homes keep multiplying.
We'll keep changing with it. That's what the name is for, and it's been the pattern since 2017 — the company has taken its direction from what customers actually needed next.
What stays put is the idea underneath: serious expertise, delivered by people you can reach.
Let's talk technology.
Whether you're running a Connecticut business or trying to get the computer in your kitchen working again, there's someone here who can help. Start with a conversation.
